DEPARTMENT OF TELECOM MANAGEMENT
The Department of Telecom management is functioning under Sri Balaji University Pune (SBUP). This department offers unique Telecom and Telecommunication courses related to the IT and Technical infrastructure and systems related to management, so that, its students can be transformed into professionals ready to manage, the technical side of the business.
The department was established in the year 2002, keeping in mind the tremendous growth potential of the Telecom, IT, ITES and other service industries in India.
In the last 18 years, more than 4000 students have graduated with specialisation in Telecom Management, Telecom & Marketing and Marketing & Finance. In year 2019, Sri Balaji Group of Institutes were given the status of a state private university by the Government of Maharashtra. The department of Telecom management under SBUP, conducts the MBA course with specialisation in Telecom management. The course intake in MBA (Telecom Management specialisation) is 60 seats, from the year 2020 onwards.
The subjects covered are very advanced and the syllabus is aligned to Industry requirements and also to advancements happening globally. The subjects are very advanced like Internet of Things (IOT), Wireless technologies (Covering LTE/4G, NGN & 5G), Broadband Technologies and M2M etc. The faculties are very highly qualified and have a good number of years’ experience in Telecom Industry and IT Industry. Students are given exposure to various Industry organised seminars and summits like the Indian Mobile Congress, Global Technology seminars. Students are encouraged to do Research projects and publish Research papers in National/International UGC approved journals.
Telecom Vertical Software Companies – Considering the current developments across the world, the job market still appears to be promising and positive for Telecom and IT Industry. The software companies like HCL,TCS, Infosys, Wipro, Tecnotree, Sigma OSS, Mahindra Comviva, Indus Towers, ATC and Reliance JIO are still in the process of expanding their business and need MBA graduates with Telecom specialisation. These companies are getting Business from Global markets, due to 4G technology induction, future 5G technology development, IOT, Cloud computing and Artificial Intelligence domains.
Mobile Wireless Business Companies - Core Telecom Companies like Bharti Airtel, Vodafone Idea Limited, Bharti Infratel have now started gearing up for deployment of new technologies like 5G and will require new skillsets and talent. Many companies are setting up Datacentres in India, and the requirements of Business domain manpower will increase for Marketing, Telecom Mgmt and Business Commercial domain roles.
The Telecom Industry has now been consolidated in India. The current technological advancement era needs a strong Telecom & IT infrastructure. Considering the present scenario, this domain has tremendous potential by virtue of its unique specialisation. The prospects for Management graduates in Telecom field appear to be very promising.
